Netra Basti
Ayurvedic Eye Renewal Therapy
Netra Basti is a deeply nourishing and restorative treatment for the eyes rooted in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. This practice is designed to soothe, hydrate, and revitalize the delicate structures of the eyes while relieving tension and pressure built up from strain and fatigue.
The 1 hour session begins with the creation of a soft dough ring placed around the eyes, forming a gentle reservoir. This is then filled with warm medicated ghee or castor oil, selected according to your individual needs. As the eyes rest in the oil, you will be guided through subtle eye movements that help bathe and nourish the ocular tissues while encouraging circulation and release of accumulated strain.
This treatment can be supportive for people experiencing:
-
Dry, irritated, or tired eyes
-
Chronic eye strain
-
Excessive screen exposure
-
Pressure or tension around the eyes
-
Early vision fatigue
Netra Basti is traditionally used in Ayurvedic care to support conditions such as glaucoma, myopia, cataracts, and nerve irritation, while also serving as a deeply preventative and restorative therapy for the eyes.
During the treatment, some natural debris may release from the eyes as the tissues soften and cleanse. Many people notice that their eyes appear clearer and more relaxed afterward, with colors appearing brighter and the area around the eyes feeling softened and refreshed.
For deeper therapeutic support, Ayurveda often recommends a series of four treatments performed relatively close together to encourage lasting benefits.
